Checking US imports: what to look at

A large share of cars from American auctions were in a collision or damaged by flood or hail, and this is not always disclosed. We show what can be verified today from open databases: wanted list, Ukrainian registrations, recalls, complaints and crash tests.

What to look for

  • Import date and number of owner changes: frequent changes in a short time are a reason to look closer.
  • Mileage and condition from listings and auctions (when the section launches).
  • Recall campaigns: was the work done (especially airbags).
