VINScopeVehicle check by VIN or plate

Checking a car against the wanted list: free and fast

Before buying a used car, especially one imported from abroad or not bought from a dealership, check that it is not in the database of wanted vehicles.

What the wanted list is

We match your query against the official database of vehicles wanted in connection with unlawful seizure. A record has the body number (VIN), plate, make, model, colour and date of seizure. It is usually updated daily; the update date is shown in the report.

How to check by VIN

Find the VIN on the windshield, the door-pillar plate or the registration certificate. Enter the 17 characters in the search field: before any lookup we verify the check digit to filter out typos. The result shows whether there is a match in the wanted list.

How to check by plate

Enter the plate in Cyrillic or Latin letters. We search the wanted database and the state register: if the plate is found, we open the full check by that car’s VIN.

What to do on a match

A match does not always mean the car is still wanted: the record may be stale or contain an error. Do not rush, do not hand over money, check the documents at a service centre and call the police on 102.

What this check does not guarantee

No match does not mean everything is fine: the list contains only unlawful-seizure records. Always inspect the car, compare the VIN on the body with the documents and review the ownership history.
